Application – Oil and lubricants play a critical role in the operation of many types of heavy plant machinery like engines (gas, diesel, biogas), turbines, compressors, transformers, gearboxes and hydraulic systems. The oil condition gives valuable insight in the running status of the plant asset. Many critical failures can be flagged by trends or step drops in parametric data from the oil report. It is therefore KEY that the plant engineer has this information as quickly as possible. Conventionally, the industry uses Oil laboratories to analyse the condition of the oil. Normally, this can take up to 5 days from sampling to receiving the oil report. We have developed an inline, real-time measurement system for oil condition monitoring to solve this problem to give our customers instant information on the oil condition of their high value plant asset.

Product Description – The Inline Oil Condition Analyser is a sophisticated process control system consisting of our Fieldkit system integrated with our MIRS-T sensor for real-time monitoring of oil condition. The fieldkit is purpose built for seamless, remote installation and is fully kitted with the MIRS-T oil condition sensor and several physical sensors such as temperature, pressure, flow-rate and leak. The system contains filtration, oil cooling and emergency shut down system and it can be configured with a pump to draw oil directly from a sump in the system or integrated in the main circulation system with controlled sampling using an electric valve.

Customised Configuration for all oil types – The MIRS-T sensor located inside the Fieldkit can be customised depending on the oil formulation chemistry. There are 8 payload channels that can be configured to directly monitor parameters such as oxidation, nitration, sulphation, water, additive depletion and also derive summative parametric data like TAN and TBN using our proprietary chemometric modelling. The fresh oil/used oil typical spectrum illustrates some common regions used in oil condition monitoring and the standards used in determining them.

Cloud Data services for Real-time process control – Data from the system is transmitted to a cloud service from a variety of communication options such as USB, ethernet, LTE or satellite. Via a web portal, the user can access the process control charts from all the sensors to get a complete picture of the oil condition. The process control capability and specifications can be defined by the customer to flag the trending behaviour of the oil condition.
